The Catalonia Time Machine is one of the Local Time Machines situated across Europe within the framework of the project Europe Time Machine.
The Europe Time Machine Project is by far the most ambitious and far-reaching project ever undertaken using Big Data of the Past. Revolutionising the way we experience European history and culture, the project is an international collaboration to build a map of 5000 years of European history, transforming kilometres of archives and large collections from museums into a distributed digital information system.
This open-access, living resource will aid everyone from academics to industry, sparking interest in the future generation of humanities scholars, pushing the limits of science and technology, and allowing the general public to explore their own past.
Nowadays, this project already has a large European coverage with more than 400 partners in 34 countries, including leading academic and research organisations, cultural heritage institutions and private enterprises. They support our key science and technology challenges, provide cultural, historical and geographical material and expertise, and contribute to the development of the project’s structure and services.
